Duchess Kate and Meghan had the best reactions to seeing Princess Eugenie as a bride

Members of the Royal Family could hardly contain themselves when they laid eyes on Princess Eugenie as she took her first few steps down the aisle of St. George’s Chapel. And clearly, Duchesses Kate and Meghan were taken aback by the beauty of the royal bride – their jaws dropped in an identical expression when they spotted her.

Singing a hymn as the princess walked down the aisle with her father, Prince Andrew , Kate and Meghan smiled with their mouths open, admiring her stunning Peter Pilotto gown . It’s clear that the sentiment was similar for everyone else watching, especially Zara and Mike Tindall, who showed off their megawatt smiles. Sarah Ferguson and Princess Beatrice , of course, got teary eyed at the first site of Eugenie, visibly overwhelmed with emotion on one of the biggest days of the princess’s life. And, of course, the Queen and Prince Philip looked taken aback by their granddaughter’s beauty.

Equally as noteworthy as their reactions were their incredible outfits. The majority of the wedding-goers donned jewel tones, including the Duchess of Sussex, who wore a navy-blue Givenchy coat dress and matching fascinator , and Eugenie’s sister and mom, in purple and emerald green , respectively. Mother-of-three Kate brightened things up a bit in a fuchsia Alexander McQueen dress , very similar to the pale pink version that she wore to the 2017 Trooping the Colour ceremony. Zara got the memo too, dazzling in a royal blue number for the special occasion.

Royal watchers and lucky attendees were also floored by the elegant cut of Eugenie’s gown, which beautifully showed off her collarbone, shoulder and upper back – a decision made for a reason deeper than just being fashionable. The 28-year-old wanted to reveal her surgical scars, which she got at 12 years old after her back surgery to correct her scoliosis. She chose to forgo a veil to make sure it could be seen. Ahead of the wedding, Eugenie opened up ITV’s This Morning, saying it was important for her not to hide her scars: "I had an operation when I was 12 on my back, and you'll see on Friday, but it's a lovely way to honour the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this. I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that."
