The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are heading Down Under! On Sunday (June 10), Kensington Palace announced the couple’s first tour ever, and while Canadians were hoping they might kick off their married life with a trip to the Great White North, the newlyweds have chosen to head to the South Pacific this fall. Their itinerary includes Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga, coinciding with Prince Harry’s October Invictus Games in Sydney – though no further dates have been revealed.
The palace took to social media to announce the exciting news, tweeting out one of the couple’s beautiful engagement photos. The official statement read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom Tonga, and New Zealand in Autumn. Their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit the Realms of Australia and New Zealand by the countries’ respective governments. The Duke and Duchess will visit the Commonwealth countries of Fiji and Tonga at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.”

Their trip will coincide with the Sydney Invictus Games (Oct. 20 to 27), which will mark Meghan’s first time attending her husband’s beloved event as an official royal. As most royal watchers remember, the love birds made their public debut as a couple last year at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto. So, this is bound to be a moment marked with sweet nostalgia for the pair.
The Prime Minsiter of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, is looking forward to welcoming the prince and his wife this autumn. “The Duke of Sussex has become a champion for war veterans around the world, including in Australia. His attendance, alongside The Duchess of Sussex, will be a wonderful highlight for more than 500 competitors and thousands of spectators,” he said in a statement.
The announcement comes on the heels of their second official engagement as a married couple, when the two stepped out with other members of their family to celebrate the Queen’s 92nd birthday at the Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday (June 9). Easily one of the most exciting times of the year for fans of the monarchy, the event certainly didn’t disappoint – especially when it came to style and the adorable royal kids!
