Meghan Markle has only just become royalty since saying “I do” to Prince Harry on May 19, but it’s clear she’s ready to hit the ground running – and with the family’s matriarch, no less. Ever since the new Duchess of Sussex first stepped out alongside the Queen at the Commonwealth Day service back in March, royal watchers have been excitedly anticipating their next joint endeavour, and they’re just in luck! It’s been announced that on June 14, the two royals will spend the day together for their first official joint engagement in Cheshire.

Meghan will have plenty of opportunity to learn the ropes from the longest-reigning monarch as the duo open the Mersey Gateway Bridge before moving on to open the Storyhouse Theatre . Following these events, the monarch and Duchess will attend a lunch at Chester Town Hall. What’s most exciting about this day is that it will be the very first time that the Duchess of Sussex has not been accompanied by her husband. Now an official royal, Meghan will be able to take more of a leading role when it comes to her various engagements – stepping out with other members of the family, with and without Harry. The Duchess of Cambridge, on the other hand, waited almost a year before she carried out her first engagement with Her Majesty, without Prince William, on an outing to London’s Fortnum & Mason store.

Just two weeks ago, Meghan and Harry exchanged vows in a stunning ceremony at Windsor Castle in St. George’s Chapel. Surrounded by close friends, family and dedicated members of the public, Duchess Meghan made history as the first biracial divorcée to marry into British royalty.

On top of the former actress’s highly anticipated outing with the monarch, royal fans love any moment they get to see the royal lovebirds out together. While the 33-year-old and his wife are currently on their honeymoon – which is, sadly, not happening in Canada ! – the two are expected to make an appearance together at Trooping the Colour on Saturday (June 9). Her sister-in-law, Kate, will also likely be there, though she’s on maternity leave until the fall after welcoming her adorable third child, Prince Louis. And if Meghan and Harry together aren’t sweet enough, just wait for too-cute Trooping regulars Prince George and Princess Charlotte to steal the show!
