Ireland Baldwin scores an Oscars gig

As Alec Baldwin prepares to lead a quieter life out of the public eye, his daughter, Ireland Baldwin, is stepping into the spotlight.

The 18-year-old model and social media enthusiast announced that she has landed a gig as Oscars fashion correspondent for TVGN and Entertainment Tonight – on the same day her famous father declared he was quitting show business for good.


Ireland, who tweeted photos promoting the show to more than 55,0000 followers on Feb. 24, will join hosts Nancy O'Dell, Rob Marciano, Rocsi Diaz, Brooke AndersonandJoe Zeeon Sunday for the red carpet event.

"I'm not used to being on camera so it's interesting," the statuesque stunner said of appearing on live television. "I'm into it, I love it."

The beautiful blond teenager, whose mother is actress Kim Basinger, has been working as a model and has appeared in Vanity Fair and W magazine. She's also become a social media sensation over the past year, garnering plenty of attention for her gorgeous selfies.

Meanwhile, Alec announced his departure from the public eye in a Feb. 24 essay for New York Magazine, writing: “I don’t want to be Mr. Show Business anymore… I've lived this for 30 years, I'm done with it."
