The evening prior to the Juno Awards, celebrities can typically be found rubbing elbows and clinking glasses at the glamorous – and highly exclusive – pre-show gala.

This year, however, the event is not just for industry elites. For the first time, Canadians will be able to watch the Juno Gala Dinner and Awards from home.

Hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, the gala — which takes place on Saturday, March 29, preceding Sunday’s Juno Awards – will hand out more than 35 awards to some of the biggest names in Canadian music.

Fans will be able to live-stream the ceremony from the Junos website and watch live performances by A Tribe Called Red, The Devin Cuddy Band, Erin Propp with Larry Roy and Mike Downes, JRDN ft. Kardinal Offishall and Jully Talk.

Backstage, viewers will also be able to interact with their favourite artists and ask them questions.

This year's special awards recipients include Canadian music duo Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida, who will receive the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award, and music executive Frank Davies, who will receive the 2014 Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award.
