Margot Robbie looks unrecognizable in costume as Queen Elizabeth I

Talk about a transformation! Margot Robbie looks completely unrecognizable as Queen Elizabeth I in the upcoming period drama Mary Queen of Scots . The Australian beauty has traded in her blond locks and sleek appearance for a balding red head and blotchy skin to bring the former monarch to life.

The 27-year-old actress was recently spotted on set in London wearing a traditional Tudor dress and a protruding prosthetic nose; a shocking contrast to her normal attire. Actors David Tennant, Joe Alwyn and Saoirse Ronan will act as her co-stars in the film, set to be released next year.

Based on her latest projects, it appears Margot is going after roles that grant her the freedom to lose herself in characters. She last transformed her look to play Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad and bulked up to live in the skates of controversial figure skater Tonya Harding in the biopic I, Tonya, set to debut next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Aussie actress starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street

All of these roles are a far cry from her breakout performance as the alluring bombshell Naomi Lapaglia in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street . The then-23-year-old became an instant star after stealing scenes opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar-nominated flick.

Believe it or not, Margot didn’t always have her heart set on Hollywood. In fact, the actress once revealed to Vanity Fair that her first love was magic. "I had tricks and thought they were genius. I didn't decide, 'I'm going to be an actress.' I didn’t know that was a job," she revealed, adding, "I thought that only happened to people born in Hollywood.”
