Paula Patton on her 'magical' love with Robin Thicke

Nothing could be further from Paula Patton's own reality than her latest movie role. In the new romantic comedy Baggage Claim, she plays a single flight attendant desperate to find Mr. Right and get engaged before her younger sister's wedding.

Of course, Paula, 37, found her own Mr. Right in her high-school sweetheart, R&B singer Robin Thicke (son of actors Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring), whose song "Blurred Lines" was the radio smash of the summer.

The couple wed in 2005 and have a three-year-old son, Julian. Paula spoke with Hello! Canada about her Canadian ties and the happiness that true love brings.

Your character spies on her boyfriend. Could you relate to that kind of jealous suspicion?
I actually absolutely can! When [Robin and I] were teenagers, I didn't trust something about Robin, and I remember running over to his apartment and hiding outside of it. I totally got caught! Thank god I was wrong because he said "Come on in, take a peek." [Laughs] I was absolutely busted!

Your father-in-law, Alan, is Canadian, and your husband has Canadian citizenship. Are you an honorary Canadian now?
We come up to Toronto to visit Robin's family often. Years ago, I remember Alan getting this big tour bus for his Canadian family and some of us Yankees. We toured around Muskoka. Obviously. I love Canadians; they are part of my family now!

First 2 Guns with Denzel Washington, now this. How satisfying is this time in your life?
It is a time to pinch myself. We couldn't be more thankful! And with this movie, I loved the chance to do comedy because I love to have fun and give it all I got.
