Pharrell Williams to perform outdoor concert during TIFF 2016

Pharrell Williams is set to perform at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The "Happy" singer will thrill select fans with an outdoor concert in support of the film Hidden Figures. The GRAMMY winner produced the soundtrack for the inspiring NASA flick, which stars Octavia Spencer, Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monae.

Now in its 41st year, the festival runs Sept. 8-18.

Pharrell will perform an outdoor concert during the festival.

TIFF members will be treated to a sneak peek of the drama followed by a Q&A session with its cast and filmmakers. The festival's Artistic Director Cameron Bailey teased the performance in a statement released on Aug. 18, which reads: “Toronto audiences will be the first to hear Pharrell's new music for Hidden Figures, and they'll see it performed live on Festival Street. This film brings together an incredible array of talent. We're beyond happy to be giving audiences a taste of it.”

Festival Street is a pedestrian-only strip of King Street West between Peter St. and University Ave. Organizers promise that a full lineup of outdoor events and activities will be announced in the coming weeks.

Pharrell is no stranger to creating award-winning music for the big screen. In 2010, the father of one produced the soundtrack for Despicable Me and followed up the hit album with music for its sequel Despicable Me 2 in 2013. The latter featured the Oscar-nominated song "Happy."
