The Cambridges stun with exquisite outfits at reception during Pakistan tour

Beep beep! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived!

Can we talk about the entrance Duchess Kate and Prince William made at a special reception at Pakistan’s National Monument in Islamabad on Oct. 15?! Not only did they arrive in a tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw) decked out in gorgeous, colourful designs honouring their host country, but they totally dazzled (literally!) with their outfits, too!

It’s hard to pick a favourite outfit from Kate’s tour wardrobe so far, but this might be it for us! Photo: © Samir Hussein/WireImage

The Duchess of Cambridge was in an emerald green Jenny Packham dress with a matching scarf for the special event, glittering like the true jewel she is. Her earrings are by British-Pakistani designer Onitaa.

As for Prince William’s outfit… wow. The Duke of Cambridge was wearing a teal sherwani – a long coat typically worn by Muslims in Pakistan and India – which was designed by Naushemian, which is based in Karachi. He paired it with matching pants and black shoes.

The sherwani is an appropriately regal look for William, since it orginated in the court of the Mughal royals in India in the 1820s before being adopted across that country and Pakistan a bit later. Photo: © Samir Hussein/WireImage

We love the emphasis the Cambridges have been putting on Pakistani designers and on outfits that honour the country’s tradition during their tour so far. When they arrived on Oct. 14, Kate stepped off the plane in an ombre turquoise sharwal kameez – a traditional outfit that combines a dress with matching trousers. The look was by Catherine Walker, one of Kate’s go-to designers.

On the morning of Oct. 15, Kate stepped out in a blue kurta – a traditional loose collared shirt over matching trousers – by Pakistan’s Maheen Khan. She wore Maheen Khan again later in the day, choosing a pair of white trousers by the Karachi-based designer, which she paired with a green Catherine Walker tunic for meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi. In the morning and afternoon, she also wore earrings by Pakistani designer Zeen.

Kate is already stunning royal watchers with her incredible tour wardrobe, and we can’t wait to see what the next three days of engagements throughout the country will bring! It’s a busy tour for the Cambridges so far, but it’s a good one!
