DSquared2's Dean and Dan Caten celebrate 20 years in Canadian style

Brothers and business partners Dean and Dan Caten, the Canadian twins behind cult Italian label DSquared2, have enjoyed a fashion journey that's taken them from the suburbs of Toronto to the heights of Milan's innermost fashion circle - and what better way to celebrate 20 years than with an anniversary blowout at Canada House, the Canadian Embassy in London's Trafalgar Square on Saturday (June 13).

The A-list fête, hosted by Canadian High Commissioner Gordon Campbell and GQ Editor-in-Chief Dylan Jones, saw a who's who of socialites, fashionable faces and Canadian icons - think: Lottie Moss, Johannes Huebl, Ellen von Unwerth, Samuel L Jackson, Ellie Goulding, Jeremy Piven and Bryan Adams - raising their glasses of Perrier Jouet champagne to the handsome siblings.

Others meandered up a stairwell lined with models clad in DSquared2 menswear - the 2016 Classic Collection, to be exact - to get a peek of the Mert & Marcus-snapped AW15 campaign. The theme? Canada of course.

"This year is a step forward but it is also a restart and refresh," the twins told Hello. With their smashing soiree behind them, we asked Dean and Dan to share their top party-planning tips:

What's your recipe for hosting an amazing fashion party?
The first and most fundamental ingredient is being in the best mood! Secondly, the right combination of cool people, great sounds and well-combined food and drink make for an explosive event. When you're organizing a party you have to inject it with your tastes, your spirit! Make sure there's a common line running through every element of the affair. For us, a sense of fun and positivity runs through our being, our fashion vision and our D2 universe - so this is something you'll find in each of our celebrations.

Is it important to have an element of surprise or entertainment?
The unexpected is what makes your party unforgettable and leaves people talking about it. We like to surprise guests with a live performance - at our January party in Milan we had the fabulous Mary J. Blige perform!

Let's talk food and drink - what are you thinking about when selecting them?
You need to think about what food and drinks you're offering and how they're being presented. Nice shapes, delicious flavours, high-quality ingredients. That's really the balance in everything we do. Remember that an event is an all-encompassing experience - the music offers the rhythm, the location creates an atmosphere, cool guests rock your party and food and drink lend a complete sensorial experience.
