The Canadian star shared a message on June 10 that she accompanied with educational resources about anti-racism.
"I bow," her began. "I bow to the Black community.
“I bow in recognition of the injustice, the violence, the burden on Black lives,” the Killing Eve star wrote. She went on to express a desire to be a strong ally to the Black community.
Bowing is a sign of respect in many Asian cultures. Sandra is of South Korean descent. According to the Korea Times, there are different types of bows for different occasions, including apologies. Therefore, her Instagram post highlights allyship and respect for the Black Lives Matter movement.
"I vow to change, to speak for change, to create change," she finished the post.
She also included a link to a list of resources.
Shay Mitchell is another Asian-Canadian celebrity who is using her social media platform to stress equality and spur change. Earlier this month, the former Pretty Little Liars actress shared her hopes for her and partner Matte Babel daughter's future with an anti-racist message.
