Having a regular routine can be very helpful, especially in unprecedented and unpredictable times as the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic.

That was something on which Tessa Virtue reflected as she shared her morning rituals on Instagram.

On March 29, the five-time Olympic medallist revealed her new habits and routine she has developed while factoring in COVID-19 and self-isolation.

At the beginning of the video, the former ice dancer took a moment to connect with her fans and strengthen the digital community as people self-isolate and quarantine.

"Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing," she said. "In such uncertain times, it has been really interesting to hear how everyone is staying motivated, staying positive, and really coming together as a community to help one another."

"I've been reflecting on the importance of having a morning ritual, a morning routine, something that sets my day on the right track and offers some structure," the Canadian icon continued.

She then gave us some insight on how she starts her day. She said she starts by drinking hot water with lemon and sets three goals and intentions for the day.

"And then I proceed to study," she says laughing, before revealing there's "lots of math on the go right now."

(When Tessa spoke to HELLO! Canada for our March 5 issue, she told us she was a "few credits shy" of her psychology degree and said she was going to begin studying for her MBA in September.)

Naturally, the sporty star also said she tries to squeeze in a home workout! If she can, she said she goes out on a walk.

Another big part of Tessa's routine is staying connected with friends and family.

"That is what matters most right now," the Canadian sweetheart explained.

She signed off by sending her love and telling viewers to "stay safe."

Many people are finding their new normal in light of COVID-19, and hearing how Tessa is adapting to her new circumstances can hopefully help fans make their own adjustments.

The former figure skater has also taken to Instagram to highlight the importance of staying active while in self-isolation. She recently shared an Instagram story workout video featuring rumoured beau Morgan Rielly!

On March 23, the pair also appeared on Hamilton, Ont. band Arkells' "Flatten the Curve" live stream in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the video, Tessa and Morgan revealed they were currently in North Vancouver and self-isolating together. The duo highlighted the ways they're passing the time inside, including reading and working out.
