No trip to Los Angeles is complete without some time at beach, a drive along famed Sunset Boulevard or a glimpse at some of its notable neighbourhoods – from trendy West Hollywood to ritzy Beverly Hills to, of course, iconic Hollywood.

For decades, Hollywood has been synonymous with the film industry – it’s home, after all, to the Academy Awards festivities each year; and many of our favourite leading men and women, from Brad Pitt to Anne Hathaway, have literally left their mark on the town, thanks to their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Need a place to get away from it all? Isla Cozumel awaits.

With five natural reserves and only two main roads, the 143-year-old island on the Caribbean Sea offers endless stretches of pristine beach and lush inland jungles that both intrigue and entertain.

Ever since French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau visited Cozumel in 1961 and promptly declared it the most spectacular diving site in the world, underwater enthusiasts have been flocking there in droves. In fact, more than eight million tourists (most disembarking from 1,300 cruise ships) visit each year – no wonder that 95 per cent of the island's 80,000 residents are in the tourism business!

Naturally, Hello! Canada couldn't wait to check out the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean.
