By hellofashion.com

The first red carpet of awards season didn't disappoint. From bold hues to show-stopping sparkles, Hollywood's leading ladies upped the style stakes in a variety of designer gowns.

First up, pink! Not usually a popular choice for red carpet gowns, a host of ladies skipped black and red gowns for a range of pink shades.

ALL THE LOOKS FROM THE RED CARPET

Lily Collins enjoyed her very own princess moment, wearing a fairytale gown from Zuhair Murad with gorgeous rose appliques. Lily topped off her with look deep red lips, an expert clash that added an edge to the ensemble.

Pink was a major theme on the red carpet

British actress Felicity Jones, meanwhile, rocked a similarly hued pink gown. Featuring black patterning along the bodice and hemline, the sleeveless dress dazzled on the star, who was presented an award during the show.

Another star to wear pink was Zoe Saldana. The actress seriously upped her fashion game with a beautiful pale pink Gucci gown that boasted an asymmetrical ruffled skirt and a blush satin bow.

Another colour that stood out as a trend at the Golden Globes was yellow. Natalie Portman continued her maternity style streak with a beautiful Prada gown that showed off her baby bump to perfection.

A host of stars also rocked yellow looks

And Reese Witherspoon, who is a fan of bright, block colours when it comes to red carpet dressing, wore a beautiful lemon yellow strapless gown that showed off her incredible curves.

Emily Ratajkowski, meanwhile, showed off her famous physique in a pale yellow Reem Acra gown and Golden Globe-winner Viola Davis turned heads in canary yellow.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Hollywood red carpet without some sparkle! Bringing the glitz and glamour was Sofia Vergara, who looked typically fabulous in sparkly Zuhair Murad.

Amy Adams chose full-on shimmer with a totally sequin navy gown from Tom Ford - we're huge fans - while Chrissy Teigen rocked a glittering Marchesa number.
