For the first time in six years, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie walked the same red carpet as they attended the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday. The last event that brought them together was the Oscars back in 2009.
Jen, 45, was stunning in a red blazer with plunging neckline and matching pants. The former Friends star was accompanied by her handsome beau Justin Theroux, who was dapper in a black suit and matching tie.
Angelina, meanwhile, showed off her figure in a glamorous silver gown cinched in at the waist. The actress-turned-director flew solo for the awards ceremony – possibly leaving Brad to take care of the Jolie-Pitt brood.
The 39-year-old lost out on an award in the directing category for her latest film Unbroken, with Richard Linklater taking the gong for his film Boyhood.
Jennifer also went home empty-handed – she lost the Best Actress gong to Julianne Moore for her role in Still Alice.
When Julianne took to the stage to accept her trophy, she took a moment to pay tribute to her fellow nominated actresses.
“One thing I know about myself for sure is that I’m a girl’s girl. I love talking to women, hanging out with women, acting with women. One of things about being an actress, the hardest part is that you never get to act with other women – or very rarely anyway,” she said.
“But that doesn’t meantthat I’m not watching and constantly inspired by everything they do. Inspired by Reese and her walk through grief; and Jennifer and that extraordinary pain; and Rosamund and her rage; and Felicity and her endurance.
“I’m so inspired by you all and honored to be in your company.”
For her part, Jennifer – who plays a woman in the grip of an addiction to painkillers in Cake – was visibly touched by her mention.
