Neutrals rule the 2014 Oscars red carpet

When the red carpet at the 2014 Oscars kicked off, we were feasting our eyes on a sea of gorgeous nude tones (that is, before the heavy hitters like Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o and Amy Adams brought a rainbow of colour to the carpet).

Jessica Biel went strapless in dazzling Chanel Couture, a shade similar to Cate Blanchett's "heavy" and breathtaking Armani Prive.

All eyes were on Angelina Jolie, one of the last to arrive, as she stole the show in a metallic silver Elie Saab gown with sheer detailing.

Other standouts included first-time nominee Sally Hawkins in long-sleeved Valentino, 12 Years A Slave's Sarah Paulson in Elie Saab and Kate Hudson in a spectacular Atelier Versace number with cape detailing.
