Kate Upton may be a top model with an enviable figure, but she doesn’t stay that way without a diet and exercise plan. The 22-year-old, a top model and the most Googled Kate (yes, ahead of Kate Moss and the royal Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton), lives by the ABC rule: no alcohol, bread or processed carbohydrates.
She recently told the Evening Standard magazine that she follows a healthy diet and disciplined exercise regime with her personal trainer David Kirsch – who has worked with the likes of Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Liv Tyler.
A typical “good" day kicks off with “a breakfast of scrambled eggs (one white, one whole) with spinach and green tea," she says. Lunch is quinoa with herb-crusted grilled chicken and grilled vegetables, and dinner is “usually sashimi or a kale salad with grilled salmon and cashews”.
Healthy snacks include “ten raw almonds and a green juice" mid-morning followed by a protein bar in the afternoon.
The model and actress, who at a size 12 is curvier than most other models, said that her diet is about eating healthily and “being strong, having the strength to work ten-hour days”.
It’s not all uber healthy-eating though – the blonde bombshell reveals that she does allow herself the occasional cheat day. But, before a big shoot or film scene she also undertakes a 48-hour juice cleanse.
She is also keen to act as a role model for young women. She said: “I’m happy to be seen as a good example, if I can help girls who are going through body image issues, I think that’s amazing.”
