Sure, Jennifer Lopez’ plunging Versace number may be the most talked about Grammy look of all time, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best. In terms of dresses that will stand the test of time, shock value is not an option (unless your name is Grace Jones). Here are my three picks for best dressed since I started watching the Grammy’s…
Rihanna in Alaia 2013:
Hello! Canada’s editor in chief Alison Eastwood and I both agree that Rihanna killed it last year in this scarlet Alaia number. Going matchy-matchy on the lips and nails helped to enhance the drama of this sultry gown.
Lauryn Hill in
Giogrio Armani 1999:
15 years later, I would still wear this Armani outfit today. Cropped top and layers of chiffon - how could you go wrong? My inner teenager is still in awe of this look.
Lea Michele in
Romona Keveza 2010:
I always swell up with Canadian pride whenever a big star chooses something designed by one of our own. Having spent many afternoons in the Romona Keveza showroom in Toronto doing pulls, I was thrilled to see the Glee darling in this flirty navy mini. I would, however, have opted for Brian Atwoods that were a little less chunky.
I can't wait to see what this year's Grammys have in store! Will I have a new favourite to add to my list? We'll find out on Sunday, Jan. 26 when the red carpet airs at 6:30 on City.
