Natalie Portman kicks off TIFF in style

Natalie Portman kicked off the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in style, walking the red carpet at the TIFF Soiree on Wednesday night (Sept. 9) looking every inch the movie star as she chatted with reporters. The star and director of A Tale of Love and Darkness was making her way into the auditorium at the TIFF Bell Lightbox to engage in an on-stage conversation about her life and career with artistic director Cameron Bailey.

Clad in a patterned mauve Dior dress with metal ring appliqués and bell sleeves, the Oscar winner had her hair in an up 'do and accessorized the soft look with black sandals and a Dior clutch.

The TIFF Soiree helps raise money for the festival on the night before its formal start on Sept. 10, when Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts's Demolition will screen as the opening-night gala. Other stars who will be participating in the In Conversation With... series this year include Salma Hayek, Sarah Silverman, Julianne Moore and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner.

Expect 34-year-old Natalie to make another dazzling appearance at the premiere of her new film, which marks her directorial debut and screens on Sept. 10 at the Winter Garden Theatre. Not only did she helm and star in the film but she also adapted the screenplay - busy days, no doubt. The mother of one told Hello! the best way to unwind each day was going home to her family. A Tale of Love and Darkness is an adaptation of the memoir of Amoz Oz, a writer who believed in and fought for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, a cause close to the Israeli-born actress's heart.
