We’re seeing double! Princess Sofia of Sweden and Hollywood’s own Allison Janney live in very different worlds, but incredible fashion sense knows no borders. When the princess stepped out for the Nobel Prize Ceremony on Dec. 10, she dazzled in a floor-length coral gown that looked almost identical to one Allison wore earlier this year.
Sofia, who just turned 34, stunned in a mermaid-style gown, boasting accentuated shoulders and caped, high-slit sleeves that skimmed the floor. Little did the mother of one know she was taking after the I, Tonya star, who wore a very similar dress by Reem Acra to the Oscars this year. Also in the vibrant hue, Allison’s design featured a low-cut neckline and the same voluminous, caped sleeves.
The gorgeous women also both accessorized with pearls – Allison with one strand, and Sofia donning numerous strings in a choker style. Though the 59-year-old left her tiara at home, Sofia topped her outfit off with the tiara she wore to say “I do” to Prince Carl Philip in 2015.
This isn’t the first time that the Oscar-winning actress has had a close encounter with royalty! While attending the 2018 BAFFTAs, Allison had an opportunity to meet the Duchess of Cambridge – a royal who makes regular appearances at the British awards night. Allison opened up about the experience on Jimmy Kimmel Live, explaining: “I didn’t know if I was supposed to curtsy, or what you’re supposed to do! And I realized when they started going that I had taken my shoes off. I was about to meet the royal coupe with Fred Flintstones-style, bare feet!”
She continued: “She said, ‘I’ve got very high heels,’ and she’s pregnant, so I said, ‘Honey, you need to take those shoes off, your highness honey.’ I called her honey.” Allison went on to say that it didn’t seem to bother Kate too much, who smiled at her after she made the small slip up. The duchess may be royal, but luckily she’s still got her sense of humour!
