On Monday night’s (July 22) episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the former teen heartthrob told the host he travelled to Las Vegas in 2004 to see Britney after she had married Jason Alexander there. The couple’s marriage was later annulled after 55 hours.
“I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening, and she was a little upset once she realized what she had done,” he said. “Because, you know, it was like a funny thing, and then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset.
“And so, I took her to her room, and we’re sitting on the bed an she wouldn’t stop crying. So, I was like, ‘I’m gay.’ And it made her stop crying. She chuckled.”
Lance, who dated women during his first few years in *NSYNC, came out in People magazine in 2006 after a report that he had been sighted at a gay bar. “I’m not ashamed – that’s the one thing I want to say,” he said in the story. “I don’t think it’s wrong. I’m not devastated going through this. I’m more liberated and happy that I’ve been my whole life. I’m just happy.”
The singer started dating Michael Turchin in 2011, and they married nearly four years later.
As for Britney, she sparked engagement rumours of her own on Monday (July 22) night, when she showed up to the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere, her first ever red carpet event with boyfriend Sam Asghari. She was wearing a huge diamond ring on her left ring finger, leading some to speculate the couple may have gotten engaged. She and Sam have been dating since 2016. No official announcement has been made yet… but we’re so happy Britney has finally found love!
