There were more than a few highlights from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding on May 19. From the adorable appearances of not one but seven little bridesmaids and page boysto the emotional moments the newlyweds shared at the altar, it was a thoroughly unforgettable day. Many of Meghan’s pals were seated in the pews and sipping champagne at the luncheon, including some of her closest Suits castmates, who recently opened up about why they still haven’t gotten over their friend’s big day at Windsor Castle.
While filming the hit legal show in Toronto on Monday (June 4), ET caught up with the cast to chat about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s big day. Of course, one of the highlights was the musical performance by icon Elton John. “It was surprising to see Elton John play ‘I’m Still Standing.’ He’s still standing; he was incredible and that was an incredible moment,” gushed Gabriel Macht, who plays Harvey Specter on the show.
Congratulations Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. What a beautiful and joyous day today was with your lovely family and friends. I danced when @eltonjohn sang, laughed at Prince Charles fantastic speech and am honoured to witness your commitment and love for each other. Wishing you a long and happy life together #royalwedding #princeharry #meghanmarkle #windsor
But being there to watch them exchange vows was more than just a star-spotting adventure. “Overall, just to be a part of such an uplifting story, you know? A story of inclusion, love – there’s so much stuff out there that’s so depressing and dark,” he continued. “This was just a remarkable day to go and support her and the Royal Family and it was an amazing time.”
Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen, said that watching Meghan say “I do” was a very proud moment for her. “It was a wonderful moment to get to see [Meghan] on that day and in that moment. It was special,” she shared.
The 36-year-old was walked part-way down the aisle by her future father-in-law, Prince Charles. But before meeting up with him halfway down, Meghan walked herself, with just her bridesmaids and page boys helping to lift her train. “Seeing [Meghan] walk in on her own, in that moment before she met up with Prince Charles to walk the rest of the way, that was amazing,” Sarah gushed.
Though Meghan will not be returning to the series that catapulted her to stardom, the rest of her castmates will be back on screen in July.
